1: The Challenge - The Yellowstone Gallery launched its first website in 2001. They intended, at that time, to have a simple internet presence where potential customers could get a feel for what the Gallery had to offer. The site was designed and implemented by friends of the owners who had enough expertise to get it off the ground. The plan was to eventually expand the site to include all of the various gallery products. However, as the brick and mortar gallery grew, its online presence stagnated. It became obvious that the old "down home" website was fast becoming a liability instead of an asset. Customers quickly grew tired of the "same ol' thing."
As e-shoppers have become more sophisticated, they've come to expect greater professionalism. Yellowstone Gallery's owners came to the realization that as a retail outlet, in order to compete, their presence on the web would have to be as attractive as possible and would need to include an e-commerce feature in order to maximize sale potential.
So in 2006 they decided they would need to have a new site professionally built to achieve their goals. "The company that hosted our old site made a very attractive and affordable offer to completely redesign the site and include a shopping cart.", recalled Jerry Kahrs, Owner. "However, after many months of hard work on both our parts it became obvious that the Gallery would be better served by working with a reputable local company that we could meet with in person, rather than trying to complete a redesign via conference calls. Then, after investigating the many web design agencies in the Bozeman area, we discovered that J-Tech Communications was the best fit for us"
2: The Solution - "We wanted to engage a local, Montana enterprise that specialized in website designs," remembers Jerry. "The reason was that we needed to meet face-to-face with our designer in order to work out the complex details of our site. One of our employees embarked on the task of finding businesses in the area. After contacting several, we were most impressed with Josh Reynolds, president of J-Tech Communications.
We set up an initial meeting for a consultation. Afterwards, we decided that J-Tech had the knowledge, expertise, and enthusiasm to tackle this difficult job. Many of the subsequent meetings involved brainstorming & planning sessions that were very fruitful in overcoming the many obstacles facing us: art design, navigational complexity, and the implementation of a shopping cart were foremost. The most difficult of these tasks was to design a navigational system that would be totally encompassing, easily cross-referenced, and user friendly. We worked hand-in-hand with the J-Tech staff to hammer out these important details and overall design of the Gallery's website."
3: The Results - "Thanks to J-Tech Communications' expertise, the YellowstoneGallery.com site now has the look and feel of a professional web business," says Jerry. "The attractive art design makes a favorable first impression and invites the customer to look around the site. A revolving 'featured products' image on the home page adds a dynamic element to the front page presentation that further encourages exploration. An easy, comprehensive side-bar navigational system with drop down menus allows users to find what they are searching for quickly.
Lastly, the shopping cart feature has proven to be a great benefit. Customers can now securely purchase our products online without the extra step of having to contact the Gallery by phone or e-mail.
Thanks to J-Tech's knowledgeable staff, professional advice, and acumen, YellowstoneGallery.com is now a valuable asset to our business."
